Client
Chief Wildlife Warden, Odisha
Solutions
Geodatabase development | Development of WebGIS application for management of protected areas, with a special focus on elephant movements | Development of Mobile based elephant sighting and tracking application | Development of Mobile based alert system

Geo-ICT based monitoring of Elephant movement is a remarkable success story that exemplifies our commitment to wildlife conservation and technological innovation. Our mobile application, implemented for the Chief Wildlife Warden of Odisha, has revolutionised how elephant sightings are recorded.

With over 1000 wildlife managers using the app daily, we have established a robust system for recording elephant sightings. The data is seamlessly transmitted to a central Web GIS platform in near real-time, enabling visualization and analysis of elephant movement patterns across the state. This has provided crucial insights into seasonal movement patterns, preferred habitats, and tracking of herds.

By overlaying the sighting data on hazardous areas like power lines, railway tracks, roads, and settlements, we help wildlife managers identify potential threats to elephants and local communities.

The location-based elephant movement data has proven invaluable in understanding their behaviour, empowering wildlife managers to protect these majestic creatures and reduce man-elephant conflicts.

SPARC takes pride in this success, where Geo-ICT technology plays a vital role in safeguarding the coexistence of wildlife and communities, contributing to a brighter future for elephants and their habitats.
