Based on more than a decade of experience in various types of assignments for water resources such as command area planning, irrigation network planning, river basin studies, etc., SPARC has evolved a unique Map based Information System on Irrigation Networks.
The systems depicts various thematic layers such as Ayacut area, catchment area, head works, canal system, canal structures (head regulator, cross regulator, falls, escapes, VRBs, CD works, outlets, etc.), water user associations (WUAs), on-going and proposed works in an integrated manner in GIS. The system facilitates real time update of working status of canal networks and maintenance requirements for efficient water distribution improving irrigation intensity. The system also allows tracking physical and final progress of various on-going works, facilitating effective works monitoring. The visualization support provided by satellite image integration also allows the user to assess actual water distribution and crop productions.
